I will start by stating, I was not sure this would be a book I could get into, its just not my usual genre. Boy- was I ever wrong.
The time is 1895- The world just gets the news that famous playwrite, poet and celebrity, Oscar Wilde, has just been sentenced to two years hardships time for ‘gross indecency’. His crime; Homosexuality.
In the town of Red River Pass, NV. everyone is gossiping and freely sharing their opinion of Mr.Wilde. This is a town where recently two families were rocked by accusations of homosexuality, when children saw two men embracing in a hug. How does all of this tie into Mildred Dunlap? I implore you to read and find out.
This book is real chin-tapper. You will be left thinking about how differently, or not so differently, things like this are handled this day in age.
***** (5stars) For opening my eyes to new genres, and opening my heart to this struggle.
