About The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap
The year 1895 was filled with memorable historical events: the Dreyfus Affair divided France; Booker T. Washington gave his Atlanta address; Richard Olney, United States Secretary of State, expanded the effects of the Monroe Doctrine in settling a boundary dispute between the United Kingdom and Venezuela; and Oscar Wilde was tried and convicted for "gross indecency" under Britian's recently passed law that made sex between males a criminal offense. When the news of Wilde's conviction went out over telegraphs worldwide, it threw a small Nevada town into chaos. This is the story of what happened when the lives of its citizens were impacted by the news of Oscar Wildes' imprisonment. It is chronicle of hatred and prejudice with all its unintended and devastating consequences, and how love and friendship bring strength and healing.
Paulette Mahurin, the author, is a Nurse Practitioner who lives in Ojai, California with her husband Terry and their two dogs--- Max and Bella. Happy New Year to you and wishes for productive writing as you work on a new book.
Thank you and my wishes go back to you for a very Happy New Year and greatly stress reduced year. Wishing you well.
Happy New Year and thank you for following my blog! Lori
My pleasure, donnaanddiablo. Is Diablo the choc lab? He looks just like our Eli, who passed a few months ago. Your fury kids are beauties. Happy to meet a new dog loving friend. 🙂
How did you guess?! 😉 in all honesty, he is an absolute doll, sweet as can be and smart as a whip. But he’s also curious *and* a puppy, so he can get into trouble now and again. I am so sorry for your loss. Our last Lab, Dakota, passed 2 years ago on Christmas Day, at 13 years of age. We miss him every day. So happy to meet you, too! 🙂
Choc labs are wonderful, so full of play and joy. We rescued Eli from a kill shelter when he was twelve and had him for 10 wonderful months and in that time, he showed us what living was all about. They bring so much to life that it is hard to forget them so I can certainly understand how hard it was for you to lose Dakota when you had him/her for so long. Give Diablo a rubbie from moi. (and if Donna is the other dog, same to her…she’s a real cutie and love her rottie look-alike coloring, lol). 🙂
Thank you ever so much for the mention, Paulette! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the support for Inklings. I hope you’ve enjoyed the holidays, and best wishes for a wonderful 2013. I’m looking forward to seeing what wonderful things are in store for you and your writing!
My absolute pleasure, Casee Marie. Your site and reviews are an absolute class act and it has been a terrific privilege to get to know you this last year.
Thank you so much for mentioning me! Hugs!
Bianca! Thank you back for all the help you’ve given me and so many others.
Thank you for stopping by my blog recently so that I could find yours in return… 😀
I appreciate your time and will look for the book and try to read it when I can. I have a list at present, but I’m working my way down.. LOL
My pleasure. Have my own long list this end…somehow keeps growing, lol. Nice to connect with you. 🙂
