Historical Fiction Book of the Year Award goes to The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap

The online magazine, Turning The Pages, announced their book of the year awards for 2012. The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap won in the Historical Fiction Category. This is an honor from a highly respected on line literary magazine that does a lot to help the indie community. I'm thrilled and very grateful in the name of tolerance.

About The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap

The year 1895 was filled with memorable historical events: the Dreyfus Affair divided France; Booker T. Washington gave his Atlanta address; Richard Olney, United States Secretary of State, expanded the effects of the Monroe Doctrine in settling a boundary dispute between the United Kingdom and Venezuela; and Oscar Wilde was tried and convicted for "gross indecency" under Britian's recently passed law that made sex between males a criminal offense. When the news of Wilde's conviction went out over telegraphs worldwide, it threw a small Nevada town into chaos. This is the story of what happened when the lives of its citizens were impacted by the news of Oscar Wildes' imprisonment. It is chronicle of hatred and prejudice with all its unintended and devastating consequences, and how love and friendship bring strength and healing. Paulette Mahurin, the author, is a Nurse Practitioner who lives in Ojai, California with her husband Terry and their two dogs--- Max and Bella. She practices women's health in a rural clinic and writes in her spare time. All profits from her book are going to animal rescue, Santa Paula Animal Shelter, the first and only no-kill shelter in Ventura County, CA, where she lives. (see links below on Ventura County Star Article & Shelter) To find out more please go the The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap on facebook or Amazon or e-mail us at the gavatar addresses. Thank you. 1. Super duper happy dance for you, your book, and the animals! 🙂 🙂

    • Thank you so much! Very happy dance in hopes it helps lots furies! Hope all’s going well with yours. 🙂

      • I have to keep remembering this is a marathon, not a sprint. Slow but steady. I don’t have anything to compare my experience with. I’ve sold about 30 copies of the book, have one glowing review on Amazon, the interview with Yammur.com sometime, one blogger already did an interview… You tell me. 🙂

    • Why don’t you give me your e-mail address and I’ll get in touch with you, get a little info on your book and see what I think may be a good networking plan for you. The other thing you could do if you want and have the time is scroll through the book’s facebook page from the start and jot down all the free promo sites and reviewers that you think might be a good match for your book. I’ve included links and if it’s free promo, usually mention that. By all means stay in touch and I’ll help how I can. In the marathan together. 🙂

      • my email is dizzylorna@hotmail.com

I don’t have a facebook account. I have been actively avoiding getting one and that may be part of my problem. But I’m so overwhelmed with just keeping up with blogging, how can I possibly add another social media outlet?

I also have a page on my blog about the book. Just click on the book cover and it take you there. If you need more info, let me know. Thank for being so willing to help me out, Paulette!

    • Your book looks really interesting. Quite an accomplishment. I just sent you an e-mail with some suggestions I hope will help you get it some more attention. 🙂
