A two-year-old dog in Thailand has been credited with saving an abandoned newborn baby’s life after it carried the baby – which was in a plastic bag – from a landfill to its house and barked until its owners came outside.

Twelve-year-old Sudarat Thongmak was the first to find the baby and she then informed her parents, Pummarat and Kummerd. The couple reportedly plans to adopt the baby girl.

About The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap

The year 1895 was filled with memorable historical events: the Dreyfus Affair divided France; Booker T. Washington gave his Atlanta address; Richard Olney, United States Secretary of State, expanded the effects of the Monroe Doctrine in settling a boundary dispute between the United Kingdom and Venezuela; and Oscar Wilde was tried and convicted for "gross indecency" under Britian's recently passed law that made sex between males a criminal offense. When the news of Wilde's conviction went out over telegraphs worldwide, it threw a small Nevada town into chaos. This is the story of what happened when the lives of its citizens were impacted by the news of Oscar Wildes' imprisonment. It is chronicle of hatred and prejudice with all its unintended and devastating consequences, and how love and friendship bring strength and healing. Paulette Mahurin, the author, is a Nurse Practitioner who lives in Ojai, California with her husband Terry and their two dogs--- Max and Bella. She practices women's health in a rural clinic and writes in her spare time. All profits from her book are going to animal rescue, Santa Paula Animal Shelter, the first and only no-kill shelter in Ventura County, CA, where she lives. What a story! Thank goodness for a happy ending!

  2. Had the baby been a boy, the dog wouldn’t have found a baby. Horrible. Heartbreaking. And you said it, Paulette: nauseating.

A beautiful story indeed. The likes that never cease to amaze me. When our four legged fellow creatures exercise life saving kindness and concern, it is more often than not referred to as simply animal instinct. What an injustice and sad misunderstanding of these fellow creatures.

    • Yes, that seems so that it is a misunderstanding and also a lack of presence, being in the moment with what is, instead of the inside of our head with what one thinks is. Anyone who doesn’t see a dog, cat, and all they bring to this world, isn’t seeing a dog or cat. My humble opinion for what it’s worth.

This was such a cool story. And so sad.
Goes to show just how much better dogs are than humans…

Another example that animals are highly evolved than humans.

Dogs are the best people I know.

It’s lovely that the dog saved the baby. But I don’t know how anyone could dump a baby, whatever the circumstances.
