About The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap
The year 1895 was filled with memorable historical events: the Dreyfus Affair divided France; Booker T. Washington gave his Atlanta address; Richard Olney, United States Secretary of State, expanded the effects of the Monroe Doctrine in settling a boundary dispute between the United Kingdom and Venezuela; and Oscar Wilde was tried and convicted for "gross indecency" under Britian's recently passed law that made sex between males a criminal offense. When the news of Wilde's conviction went out over telegraphs worldwide, it threw a small Nevada town into chaos. This is the story of what happened when the lives of its citizens were impacted by the news of Oscar Wildes' imprisonment. It is chronicle of hatred and prejudice with all its unintended and devastating consequences, and how love and friendship bring strength and healing.
Paulette Mahurin, the author, is a Nurse Practitioner who lives in Ojai, California with her husband Terry and their two dogs--- Max and Bella. She practices women's health in a rural clinic and writes in her spare time. You must be one happy puppy yourself! Such joy in these happy photos… Spot (with his name) was my fave!
Very happy, Koji. There’s a lot of love going around over here. Very grateful these furry (& one feather friend) have a chance at life. 🙂
SPARC has done a remarkable job of adopting out furry (& rescuing feathery) friends. 🙂
Yes, they have. Now prayers for more no-kill shelters.
This is the most heartwarming news I’ve heard so far this year. Wonderful pictures too. 😀
It really is an incredible feel good set of photos. I’m thrilled that SPARC is having such a great turnover of their fur babies. So many happy lives. 🙂
A lot of good animal lovers out there. 😀

Happy dogs – a feel good post!
Thank you so much for the reblog. Wag for your girls. 🙂
Aw! 🙂
Definitely an aw photo spread. My heart’s a singing. 🙂
How great these adoptions and lots of them too. Marvelous work by the individuals that made it all happen. I know you had a hand in the wonderful events.
The dog that was lost for 5 mo. So wonderful that he was lucky to be kept alive. That would make a nice story here so that people would know how it all came about.
Regards, yvonne
Yes, it’s lovely all the adoptions. I’ll write to SPARC to see if I can get the back story on the dog lost for 5 months. I’ll post it if I hear back. They’ve had a management turn over in the last couple months, so fingers crossed I’ll hear from them. I’m always so thankful when a pet is reunited with their family. 🙂
Just found out that the dog was stolen from the families backyard 5 months ago. Poster & fliers were put up and they searched all over, never giving up hope. It turned up at SPARC and they reunited. I haven’t found out if it was from a chip or poster. Will let you know if I get that answer.
Wonderful and thank so miuch for the reply. ~yvonne
🙂
So so pawesome!
Very pawsome for a lot of our furry (& one feathery) friend. 🙂
Sometimes I’m a little slow on the uptake. I just realized that the initials of your animal rescue centre reads SPARC, while it says “spark” as well. What a descriptive title for the kind and wonderful service you continue to provide our fellow creatures.
Aww, so happy to have you here to see all these happy photos. Doing lots of happy dances over here. 🙂 Give your fur babies a hug from all of us. And, Marianne.
What a glorious roll call of deliciousness – well done everyone!
Lots of happy wagging and wing flapping friends over here. 🙂

Lot of happiness.
While I’ve been remiss with posting, SPARC has been really doing a great job, bless their animal loving hearts and all the great people over there, with adopting out a whole lot of furry (& a feathery) friend. There are many more photos posted at their page. Love it! 🙂
love, like, love, like…..
Ditto, ditto, ditto, ditto… 😉
I just got my latest dog from a rescue centre (Irish retriever rescue) there are so many lovely pooches in need of homes, we should all adopt if able to. 🙂
I was just over at your site commenting while you were here. I didn’t see any photos of your new fur baby. Did I miss that post? And, yes, so many in need to rescue/adoption, too many being euthanized daily here and around the world. Thank goodness for all the kind hearted people helping to make a difference. 🙂
The latest post has Hamish on it.
There are pictures of Hamish in my latest post. 🙂
Just saw Hamish. He’s gorgeous! Very happy for you all. 🙂

Aren’t they adorable. So funny, when I saw your comment at your site about Bruno and Tucker I went blank in the head and searched the net, found a cute doggie pair being trained… Then saw this from you. I’ll be laughing all day over that one. Too cute. xoxo
i know it’s so funny ,we were both at each other’s house at the same time. i was talking to you there but you were here.lol

No apologies needed. It was fun roaming around and when I finally found them back at “Home Sweet Home”… I’m still cracking up over this one. Trust me, I needed the laugh and diversion today. xoxox
