About The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap

The year 1895 was filled with memorable historical events: the Dreyfus Affair divided France; Booker T. Washington gave his Atlanta address; Richard Olney, United States Secretary of State, expanded the effects of the Monroe Doctrine in settling a boundary dispute between the United Kingdom and Venezuela; and Oscar Wilde was tried and convicted for "gross indecency" under Britian's recently passed law that made sex between males a criminal offense. When the news of Wilde's conviction went out over telegraphs worldwide, it threw a small Nevada town into chaos. This is the story of what happened when the lives of its citizens were impacted by the news of Oscar Wildes' imprisonment. It is chronicle of hatred and prejudice with all its unintended and devastating consequences, and how love and friendship bring strength and healing. Paulette Mahurin, the author, is a Nurse Practitioner who lives in Ojai, California with her husband Terry and their two dogs--- Max and Bella. She practices women's health in a rural clinic and writes in her spare time. All profits from her book are going to animal rescue, Santa Paula Animal Shelter, the first and only no-kill shelter in Ventura County, CA, where she lives. (see links below on Ventura County Star Article & Shelter) To find out more please go the The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap on facebook or Amazon or e-mail us at the gavatar addresses. Thank you. And I hope you do not mind if I piggyback…

Could I ask whether anyone could spare a little money to help a couple in Turkey who don’t have a lot of money themselves but who are doing their best to feed and worm the stray dogs in their area.

    Here’s the link:
    http://ayak-turkishdelight.blogspot.com/

There are shelters in Turkey doing really good work…but there is no one else in their locality.
At the moment they can only afford to feed and worm….they have a generous vet who helps out but even with his aid they can’t afford to arrange for neutering yet.

I have every respect for this couple…basically they are doing all this, and keeping themselves, on a U.K. retirement pension which, let me tell you as a U.K. pensioner, is far from generous.

    • Very happy to have you stop by and post their site. I’m following their blog site as well now. Bless them for all they are doing. And, you for helping to spread their word. For anyone reading this, it’s a wonderful site. Please do stop by and give them a look and if you can help in any way by all means please do.

    • Aww, bless your sweet heart and thank you for persevering! It’s really warm here as well, in the upper 70s. Dogs went to the park and had a good outside day. You sound like you had your hands full with outside work. Thank you for whispering to the full Moon, can use all the help we can get. Hugs and wag from all our end. 🙂
