LATEST REVIEWS FOR THE PERSECUTION OF MILDRED DUNLAP
A richly woven tale of small-town bigotry, compete with all-too-believable villains and inspiring heroes. The latter includes Mildred Dunlap, who suffers years of psychological abuse because of who she is and how she loves, despite the fact that most people in the town have benefited from her generosity in times of financial trouble. The saga of how this bullying plays out had me engrossed (and angry) the entire time until the most surprising (and entirely satisfying) ending. Open-minded people will cheer as they read the final pages.

DOGS SAVED FROM KILL SHELTERS WITH THE HELP OF THE PROFITS FROM ALL MY BOOKS
I’m deeply grateful for everyone who has purchased, read, and taken the time to review my book. In the name of tolerance, a special thank you also to everyone who has spread the word to help promote this book. All profits from my books go to help get dogs like Trooper, Oreo, Harvey, siblings Brewster & Phoebe, Patty, Carlita, Dooley, Sheldon, Shamina, Sherman, Spencer, Patches, Arabella, Petulia and Princess (see photos below) out of kill shelters. Thus far in 2016, 234 dogs have been freed. Last year 148 dogs were freed.
AND please for everyone who’s purchased a book could I humbly ask you to write a review when you’ve completed the read. I have just found out that Amazon promotes and ranks books according to number of reviews in addition to sales. Every voice helps spread the word and that is an energy that can help a dog.

About The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap
The year 1895 was filled with memorable historical events: the Dreyfus Affair divided France; Booker T. Washington gave his Atlanta address; Richard Olney, United States Secretary of State, expanded the effects of the Monroe Doctrine in settling a boundary dispute between the United Kingdom and Venezuela; and Oscar Wilde was tried and convicted for "gross indecency" under Britian's recently passed law that made sex between males a criminal offense. When the news of Wilde's conviction went out over telegraphs worldwide, it threw a small Nevada town into chaos. This is the story of what happened when the lives of its citizens were impacted by the news of Oscar Wildes' imprisonment. It is chronicle of hatred and prejudice with all its unintended and devastating consequences, and how love and friendship bring strength and healing.
Paulette Mahurin, the author, is a Nurse Practitioner who lives in Ojai, California with her husband Terry and their two dogs--- Max and Bella. She practices women's health in a rural clinic and writes in her spare time. All profits from her book are going to animal rescue, Santa Paula Animal Shelter, the first and only no-kill shelter in Ventura County, CA, where she lives. You see them in those cages….and then see them, relaxed and happy in their new homes. Just wonderful.
It sure is wonderful! I say this over and over but it’s so amazing how resilient they are. A real blessing to see how they respond to love. ❤
