GOODREADS

The book The Seven Year Dress really stood out as one of my favorites so far. It gives the reader tons of emotions from sad to happy to wanted to just rage with anger. The book is filled with lots of detail and I highly suggest it for all readers.I believe The Seven Year Dress by Paulette Mahurin is an excellent book especially because of the theme shown throughout the book and also for the quality of information it provides the readers with about World War 2 and the struggles for the Jews. This book educates the readers on the quality of life and how it is a gift and how helping others can change a life. It is presented many times that life is important so cherish every moment of it. This is shown when Helen is in the concentration ccmaps wishing she was still at home with her family like before the war not having to worry about anything or anyone. She wishes she had spent more time with her loved ones while they were still living. Another common theme throughout the book was how helping others can change their life. In the concentration camps Helen met this named Ester. Ester did everything she can in the camps to make sure Helen and all the other girls were taken care of and tried to encourage them by talking about what life will be like when war is over. This theme was also brought up by Helen’s best friend Ben. Ben was a Nazi but went behind Hitler’s back and helped our Helen and her family. He put them through hiding and helped Helen survive the war. This Book also provides tons of information about how bad the concentration camps were and how cruel they were and also how Jews would go into hiding, or be illegally helped by a German. This book will leave you changed forever on the point of views on the Holocaust and wanting to know so much more on the effect it had on others not just in this book.

About The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap
The year 1895 was filled with memorable historical events: the Dreyfus Affair divided France; Booker T. Washington gave his Atlanta address; Richard Olney, United States Secretary of State, expanded the effects of the Monroe Doctrine in settling a boundary dispute between the United Kingdom and Venezuela; and Oscar Wilde was tried and convicted for "gross indecency" under Britian's recently passed law that made sex between males a criminal offense. When the news of Wilde's conviction went out over telegraphs worldwide, it threw a small Nevada town into chaos. This is the story of what happened when the lives of its citizens were impacted by the news of Oscar Wildes' imprisonment. It is chronicle of hatred and prejudice with all its unintended and devastating consequences, and how love and friendship bring strength and healing.

Purrfect start of the day, Paulette. We want to wake up like this every morning ❤ Pawkisses for a Happy Weekend 🙂 ❤
Ah wouldn’t that be wonderful, to wake to hundreds of dogs freed. I saw a video yesterday and posted it to my facebook page of a woman who rescued 900 dogs. It started with one, a deformed dog that no one wanted, and went on to others who for cosmetic reasons, etc. weren’t being adopted. She bought a piece of property in Costa Rica (acres) and now goes for walks with hundreds of dogs daily. It’s the most beautiful sight. I went on line to find something to post here for you and anyone else that wants a really feel good article: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/costa-rica-land-of-the-stray-dogs_us_56fc7b49e4b0daf53aeeb271 Your pawkisses always make my day. ❤
So many cute, happy faces!!
Thank you again for helping these furry, balls of love find homes 😘
Ah so kind of you to say. I don’t actually help them find homes. I pledge profits from all my books to help get them out of the kill shelters. The rescues pull them and network to get them into permanent or foster homes until they can find a good and safe permanent home. It’s a huge network of wonderful people helping to do this. My part is very small. But oh so rewarding. ❤
OMC A Meowsy big ConCats!!! We hope you realize, it’s only da middle of da month and you’re already past 400. 4 months, a hunnerd happy waggin’ tails a month. 🙂 Big hugs fur all.
Luv ya’
Dezi and Raena
Ah your big hugs make my day. It’s been very busy with a lot of activity. And a huge thanks to so many good-hearted people who stepped up to help so many dogs. And here’s wishing you a very happy, peaceful, feeling good Easter weekend. Luv ya, ❤
All your happy dogs really raises my spirits 😀
Mine too, Marilyn. It’s a real feel good for all involved. ❤
So many lucky pups – and so many rottie/Choppy looking ones in this batch!
They really are lucky. Sarah, I see so many that aren’t and I don’t understand how they all (thousands) landed in kill shelters. Then one makes it to freedom and that sure lifts my spirits and the feelings of overwhelm about the pure numbers. I just love Bosco and Felicity, Choppy’s cousins. Have a great week. ❤
You have a wonderful week as well!
🙂
This post makes me happy for all the dogs who are saved. Thanks to you.
Hi and thanks for your kind words, Lou. Makes me very happy too. ❤
Mildred – The work you are doing warms my heart each and every day.
Hi and thank you Sheri. You know I’m deeply moved by your posts, even if far and few between. My heart’s with you. And your husband. Love, Paulette
