700 dogs rescued from kill shelters

I’m deeply grateful to everyone who has purchased, read, and taken the time to review one of my books. All profits from my books go to help get dogs like bonded siblings Sassy and her brother, Kobe, Winston, Jaquie, Duggan, Praline, Charlotte, Maiden, Ariel, Vanessa, Lizzy, Jack, Rosie, Austin, Peter & Eva (see photos below) out of kill shelters. So far in 2017 we’ve helped free 700 dogs. In 2016, 250 dogs were freed. In 2015, 148 dogs were freed.

AND please for everyone who’s purchased a book could I humbly ask you to write a review when you’ve completed the read.  Amazon promotes and ranks books according to number of reviews in addition to sales. Every voice helps spread the word and that is an energy that can help a dog.

About The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap

The year 1895 was filled with memorable historical events: the Dreyfus Affair divided France; Booker T. Washington gave his Atlanta address; Richard Olney, United States Secretary of State, expanded the effects of the Monroe Doctrine in settling a boundary dispute between the United Kingdom and Venezuela; and Oscar Wilde was tried and convicted for "gross indecency" under Britian's recently passed law that made sex between males a criminal offense. When the news of Wilde's conviction went out over telegraphs worldwide, it threw a small Nevada town into chaos. This is the story of what happened when the lives of its citizens were impacted by the news of Oscar Wildes' imprisonment. It is chronicle of hatred and prejudice with all its unintended and devastating consequences, and how love and friendship bring strength and healing. Paulette Mahurin, the author, is a Nurse Practitioner who lives in Ojai, California with her husband Terry and their two dogs--- Max and Bella. She practices women's health in a rural clinic and writes in her spare time. All profits from her book are going to animal rescue, Santa Paula Animal Shelter, the first and only no-kill shelter in Ventura County, CA, where she lives. (see links below on Ventura County Star Article & Shelter) To find out more please go the The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap on facebook or Amazon or e-mail us at the gavatar addresses. Thank you. Great on all accounts.

700 dogs save… I was tempted to say amazing achievement, this on going record breaking performance. However what with your writing accomplishments and success, there is little to surprise us, at least we who follow your said accomplishments. What a great year so far, 2017 for these many threatened poor and too often mistreated fellow creatures, thanks of course to your writing talent and the resulting dedication that benefits those that you are able to save as in time a result. Ergo once again, congratulations dear lady!

    • Thank you so much for this wonderful communication, JJ. It means the world to me and I’m grateful for your support and friendship. Having you along on this journey, getting to appreciate your incredibly brilliant poetry has been a gift in my life. And I’m truly grateful I’ve been able to do my small part to help the dogs. Hope you and Marianne have a lovely weekend. ❤

  3. There are some wonderful people about, prepared to stand vet fees, take in ailing and old dogs…and just look at those happy freedom photographs.
My friend in Turkey is facing huge – on her income – bills to operate on two of the many dogs she and her husband care for on an industrial estate. Two wonderful people who stint themselves to care for unwanted animals.

    • Please tell your friends in Turkey they have my loving respect and appreciation for what they are doing to help their dogs. I know people like that who go without to ensure they tend to their dogs. It’s not easy but one does what they can for the family they love. With our Bella, she cost me an entire year’s salary to pay her medical bills. Another may have disposed of her, who continues to have many medical challenges needing attention. She’s one of the lucky ones. Like the dogs your friends tend to. Too many are discarded and there’s the heartbreak, that there are just too many to help. And for all you do to help, bless you my friend. ❤

Thanks Paulette you has the heart on the right place.

Seeing all of these happy faces and soulful eyes makes my day. Thanks for all that you do… it’s nothing short of amazing!

    • Me too, my friend. Their expressions say so much. They just can’t and don’t hide their emotions and it’s so rewarding when they light up. I was having a down day when I came across the information that Austin was rescued and that freedom photo of him running so happily just lifted my spirits. Amazing the before and after photos in all of them and their resilience. I learn so much for dogs, and animals, and nature daily, mainly about not holding on. Life’s way too short. Hope you have a good week. ❤

  6. Golly those are some handsome dogs and I know they make your heart proud to be the impetus to getting them out of the shelter/s and then knowing that they have been adopted.

    • Hi Yvonne. They are a handsome bunch and it’s hard to believe they all landed in kill shelters. Thankfully they’re out and oh so happy. I just love how excited Austin was, running free. Everytime I love looking at their after photos. Hope you and your family, fur babies included, are all well. ❤

  7. I love to see such happy dog faces!

Fantantisch dat Paulette maar blijft doorgaan en doorgaan.Prachtvrouw.

  10. This is so heartwarming. Until one has experienced the unconditional love of a pet they are missing a vital life experience. So much love and praise to you!
