A wonderful review from the prolific, talented Christoph Fischer, for my new book, The Day I Saw The Hummingbird. Thank you so much.

The Day I Saw the Hummingbird: A Novel by [Mahurin, Paulette]Today I have a superb book for you, written by a close friend of mine. So yes I’m biased, especially as all proceeds from her books goe to a no-kill animal shelter. But with the charitable thought comes quality, so you’re on a double winner.

“The Day I Saw the Hummingbird” by Paulette Mahurin marvellously continues her series of heart-breaking and heart-warming celebrations of the human spirit in times of adversity.
The point of view is that of a growing up slave boy, who is forced to witness the death of his father and other close friends at the hand of white men, just before the outbreak of the Civil War.
Told by the grown up man as he looks back at his life, this manages to bring into the novel also the reflection of the post-slavery man on the Civil War and the times before and after.

About The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap

The year 1895 was filled with memorable historical events: the Dreyfus Affair divided France; Booker T. Washington gave his Atlanta address; Richard Olney, United States Secretary of State, expanded the effects of the Monroe Doctrine in settling a boundary dispute between the United Kingdom and Venezuela; and Oscar Wilde was tried and convicted for "gross indecency" under Britian's recently passed law that made sex between males a criminal offense. When the news of Wilde's conviction went out over telegraphs worldwide, it threw a small Nevada town into chaos. This is the story of what happened when the lives of its citizens were impacted by the news of Oscar Wildes' imprisonment. It is chronicle of hatred and prejudice with all its unintended and devastating consequences, and how love and friendship bring strength and healing. Paulette Mahurin, the author, is a Nurse Practitioner who lives in Ojai, California with her husband Terry and their two dogs--- Max and Bella. She practices women's health in a rural clinic and writes in her spare time. All profits from her book are going to animal rescue, Santa Paula Animal Shelter, the first and only no-kill shelter in Ventura County, CA, where she lives. (see links below on Ventura County Star Article & Shelter) To find out more please go the The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap on facebook or Amazon or e-mail us at the gavatar addresses. Thank you. 1. A super review…may it pull in the book buyers.

    • Not sure what book buyers is, but I trust you to put it anywhere. Therefore yes to whatever it is. Do you have a link for it so I can educate myself on what it is. And anything to help promote this = dogs helped so green lights all the way. And thank you so much my friend for your generosity of sharing. ❤

      • A good review encourages people to buy the book…and the bonus is the help for needy dogs, so good of him to mention that too.
I hope things are looking up for you.

      • Well you can obviously tell that my mind is clouded. Of course, book buyers. I misread that thinking it was a site. Never mind. I just got home from getting a nuclear medicine test and am still infused with mind altering nonsense making stuff. But so far all is okay. Thank you dear one. ❤

I’ve read her first three books, and all of them were wonderful read, so I’v no doubt that “The Day I Saw The Hummingbird” book, which I expect to receive today or Monday, will be as great as the first three, for that is the kind of talent with which Paulette Mahurin writes.
    Bravo Paulette!
