It is a well-crafted mystery story that goes beyond the “whodunnit” aspect to touch on ideas or issues that are both fascinating and thought-provoking at the same time.
‘Irma’s Endgame’ is just such a book. A compelling mystery novel on one hand, and a powerful “What if?’ premise on the other, ensures that the reader will be fully engaged in the intricacies of this story. It demonstrates the best and worst of human nature, and explores the vulnerability of even the closest of relationships to a range of external forces.
The story is well-paced and carefully constructed. The characters are varied and interesting, and quite realistic.
An enjoyable and interesting read.

When I first started reading this I thought the story was verging on a bit of the paranormal. I had never heard of personality transference. Before I finished reading, I looked up the particular case that was mentioned, and there it was. Knowing that cases like this exist made it all the more fascinating. The author brings her fiction to life with a look at characters from multiple perspectives besides their own. You can see how past events have molded them into the people they are in the story. I’ve loved her literary and historical fiction, and now I’m definitely a fan of her crime fiction.

Once again, Paulette has written a book that made me question and analyze certain topics. The issue of transference was most interesting. As a nurse myself, I enjoyed Paulette’ s expertise in the medical aspects of the storyline. Most of all, reading about Tazzie and Bella made me smile the most! 😉

Irma’s Endgame is the kind of book you don’t want to put down. It is a mystery that entwines the lives of several individuals in fascinating ways. All the characters are interesting people … a book could be written about each of them. Besides being a mystery, it is very informative and colorfully written. Paulette Mahurin has done it again …. written a very readable book.

I really loved the creativity of the story. The plot kept me intrigued and wanting to find out what happened next. The characters were all very vivid and their motive resonant. The focus of the mystery is less on who and more on why and how, which I enjoyed.
There is a lot of exploration of what’s going on in their heads, both in terms of past and present. Relationships are paramount and explored very deeply. There is a lot of detail in that area that is beautifully, almost lyrically, written. This is not the type of book I generally read a lot of, I do love psychology of characters, but with more focus on a single one and balanced with action. This book did have action and suspense, but the main focus for me was the relationship and character building.
If you like books that really examine the intricate workings of relationships and minds, particularly in the context of investigative suspense, then I highly recommend reading this novel.

I began reading this book with the intention of finding out exactly what was Irma’s endgame. I also read it with the intention of picking apart the medical information as well as the mystery aspects. i was thoroughly delighted as I became enveloped in the intricate and dysfunctional lives of the characters as well as the mystery webs that were woven. Mystery and cozy mystery were not my typical genre of choice to pick up and read. But this one kept me up, reading it until i reached the end. it was hard for me to set it down. i intimately related myself with each character and even with quite a few of the elements that were portrayed through some of the scenes. i found myself telling the character what they should be doing and what their next move should be, if I were in their shoes.
I enjoyed the characters’ true to life flaws and the current events that filled the backdrops helped the story to be so much more timely and true.
I found the ending to be surprising, yet exactly as it should be. And her endgame? Yes, Irma had her endgame on point. Thanks to Paulette Mahurin for making me now thirst for more cozy mysteries!

Irma’s endgame is an engaging, descriptive and complex tale of lives that will become intertwined in ways you would not expect. The mystery is captivating, edgy and keeps you turning pages! The solid editing, great characters, and suspense make this a must read book for those who love medical mysteries. The lost-love theme is so well done as well. All around a great novel to enjoy!!

Full of heartbreaking moments, this beautiful story by Miss Mahurin explores the tragedies of the concentration camps of World War II.
In this story, we follow the account of a young woman named Helen who, after surviving some unfortunate circumstances, was eventually found and taken into a concentration camp. Although she is one of the few who survive the camp, reading her story from little to young woman is hard.
The account of the way in which Germany affected Jewish families in this time is both realistic and powerful making it emotionally difficult at some points. It’s that realism though that makes this book all the better. To think that this was the reality for millions of people makes it all the more striking.

🌟 Choco is 8, blind, and the companion he came in with has been adopted. As if that weren’t bad enough, he was surrendered in JANUARY! He’s also hidden in medical, out of public view. How bad could things get for this poor blind guy? Blind dogs are resilient & can live wonderful fulfilling lives, they just need a kind hand to guide them while they learn their new environment. Choco deserves a real home. Let’s get him out of here. San Pedro, CA
NOTE: This dog is not in our care, we are not affiliated with the shelter in any way. We post updates as we receive them, for questions/concerns please contact the shelter directly.

About The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap
The year 1895 was filled with memorable historical events: the Dreyfus Affair divided France; Booker T. Washington gave his Atlanta address; Richard Olney, United States Secretary of State, expanded the effects of the Monroe Doctrine in settling a boundary dispute between the United Kingdom and Venezuela; and Oscar Wilde was tried and convicted for "gross indecency" under Britian's recently passed law that made sex between males a criminal offense. When the news of Wilde's conviction went out over telegraphs worldwide, it threw a small Nevada town into chaos. This is the story of what happened when the lives of its citizens were impacted by the news of Oscar Wildes' imprisonment. It is chronicle of hatred and prejudice with all its unintended and devastating consequences, and how love and friendship bring strength and healing.

Great on dogs and reviews.
❤
Some pretty adorable faces on those newly rescued pups. Well done!
They sure are adorable. And so happy. Hope you all have a great weekend. ❤
Too too. Seeing their faces always warms my heart. Bless you for making it possible.
So glad Choco was rescued…and the bonded pairs, as always….Do you know if Panda, who camein with Fluffy, was rescued?
Yes, it was a big relief Choco was rescued. Look at his big happy smile. Panda was adopted and Fluffy left along until the rescue finally pulled him, thankfully. I always pledge for bonded pairs to stay together. I feel very strongly about not separating families/bonded pairs. ❤
So many happy mug shots! I’m always thankful when the old or the blind are adopted and find loving homes. It’s a lot to take on (it’s been my niche to take on the oldsters) but when I feel the love they give back, well, there’s just no way to explain what we’re given back in love. Once again, thank you for your work in helping with rescue.
So true, my friend, so true about the love they give back. Choco is filling everyone around him, everyone he meets, with smiles and warmth. That is one extremely happy resilient boy. So glad you stopped by to see his smiling face, along with all the others sweethearts. Big hug to you for all you do to make the world a better place. ❤
❤ you are such an inspiration Paulette xoxo
Hi Zoe. Good to see you pop up over the cyber horizon. Thank you for your kind words. ❤️
Oh my, Superduque, you made my day. I love this song. My favorite Carole King song. You are such a great, supportive cyber friend and I thank you wholeheartedly for taking the time to spread goodwill. ❤
What an abundance of love you give!
What a sweet thing to say. Thank you so much. ❤️🐾
True! A dog’s life can be heartbreaking. I would like to see a help column or page for questions, queries from situations that can help dog owners who may be going through a crisis or facing an abandonment situation.😟💕
That would be helpful. And it’s so true a dog’s life can be heartbreaking. So much need and not enough resources.
