About The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap
The year 1895 was filled with memorable historical events: the Dreyfus Affair divided France; Booker T. Washington gave his Atlanta address; Richard Olney, United States Secretary of State, expanded the effects of the Monroe Doctrine in settling a boundary dispute between the United Kingdom and Venezuela; and Oscar Wilde was tried and convicted for "gross indecency" under Britian's recently passed law that made sex between males a criminal offense. When the news of Wilde's conviction went out over telegraphs worldwide, it threw a small Nevada town into chaos. This is the story of what happened when the lives of its citizens were impacted by the news of Oscar Wildes' imprisonment. It is chronicle of hatred and prejudice with all its unintended and devastating consequences, and how love and friendship bring strength and healing.
Paulette Mahurin, the author, is a Nurse Practitioner who lives in Ojai, California with her husband Terry and their two dogs--- Max and Bella. Excellent on all counts.
❤
Your posts always remind me of how many good people there are in the world. Pity about the others….
So true on both counts. And you know how many good people it takes to rescue one dog. It’s a huge effort. The longer I’ve been involved with this effort the more I see how vast and expansive the networking is to help. Not just with dogs but so many other important matters. You certainly do your share, my friend. ❤
And now we have half another dog….this lady has been following Danilo to work, stays with us for the day – breakfast, lunch and tea – then follows him back over the bridge and does the rounds of three more houses before tucking down for the night in the garage of a chap alongside the road where we think she was dumped. Such a loyal lady: I would like to get my hands on whoever dumped her.
Another pathetic story of a poor dumped dog. But thankfully, she’s adopted the neighborhood as her family and more thankfully you live in that neighborhood.
What a great way to start my Monday and a new week – lots of hope and happiness!
It is a great way to start the week. And I’m very happy to share it with you. ❤
Yay! I’m so happy to hear of their rescue!
Me too, Wanda. Lot of happy wagging tails all around. ❤
Fantastic !
It really is, Lou. And I’m so happy for these freed dogs. ❤
