490 dogs rescued from kill shelters

I’m deeply grateful to everyone who has purchased, read, and taken the time to review one of my books. All profits from my books go to help get dogs like Larson, Misha, Rudy, Asha, Valeria, Marley, Tiko, Dinah,Louie, Slater (see photos below) out of kill shelters. So far in 2017 we’ve helped free 490 dogs. In 2016, 250 dogs were freed. In 2015, 148 dogs were freed.

AND please for everyone who’s purchased a book could I humbly ask you to write a review when you’ve completed the read.  Amazon promotes and ranks books according to number of reviews in addition to sales. Every voice helps spread the word and that is an energy that can help a dog.

RECENT REVIEW FOR THE SEVEN YEAR DRESS
on May 19, 2017
A powerful and heart-touching story of tragedy, compassion, horror, love and the indomitable strength of the human spirit. Though the story relates historically accurate details many of us would prefer to turn aside from; the author also shares poignant insights into the German perspective of anti-Semitism Nazism. I skimmed past the sexual fantasy scenes that seemed incongruous, but they serve as a potent reminder that humans are humans regardless of place and situation, and often because of it. Not a story for the faint-hearted or someone looking for a silver-lined view of one of humanities darkest hours; The Seven Year Dress is a book that is neither easily laid aside, nor forgotten.

About The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap

The year 1895 was filled with memorable historical events: the Dreyfus Affair divided France; Booker T. Washington gave his Atlanta address; Richard Olney, United States Secretary of State, expanded the effects of the Monroe Doctrine in settling a boundary dispute between the United Kingdom and Venezuela; and Oscar Wilde was tried and convicted for "gross indecency" under Britian's recently passed law that made sex between males a criminal offense. When the news of Wilde's conviction went out over telegraphs worldwide, it threw a small Nevada town into chaos. This is the story of what happened when the lives of its citizens were impacted by the news of Oscar Wildes' imprisonment. It is chronicle of hatred and prejudice with all its unintended and devastating consequences, and how love and friendship bring strength and healing. Paulette Mahurin, the author, is a Nurse Practitioner who lives in Ojai, California with her husband Terry and their two dogs--- Max and Bella. She practices women's health in a rural clinic and writes in her spare time. All profits from her book are going to animal rescue, Santa Paula Animal Shelter, the first and only no-kill shelter in Ventura County, CA, where she lives. (see links below on Ventura County Star Article & Shelter) To find out more please go the The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap on facebook or Amazon or e-mail us at the gavatar addresses. Thank you. Excellent on all counts.

  2. Your posts always remind me of how many good people there are in the world. Pity about the others….

    • So true on both counts. And you know how many good people it takes to rescue one dog. It’s a huge effort. The longer I’ve been involved with this effort the more I see how vast and expansive the networking is to help. Not just with dogs but so many other important matters. You certainly do your share, my friend. ❤

      • And now we have half another dog….this lady has been following Danilo to work, stays with us for the day – breakfast, lunch and tea – then follows him back over the bridge and does the rounds of three more houses before tucking down for the night in the garage of a chap alongside the road where we think she was dumped. Such a loyal lady: I would like to get my hands on whoever dumped her.

      • Another pathetic story of a poor dumped dog. But thankfully, she’s adopted the neighborhood as her family and more thankfully you live in that neighborhood.

  3. What a great way to start my Monday and a new week – lots of hope and happiness!

  4. Yay! I’m so happy to hear of their rescue!
