Ventura County, CA, public TV station brings in lots of local talent from around the county. I was a lucky guest to be asked to come talk about animal rescue and how my book is helping that cause. May 1, 2013
I’m being interviewed by Ken McAlpine, who wrote for National Geographic and has several books out on the market. He’s a great guy and we had a lot of fun chatting.
More fun with Ken talking about tolerance, animal rescue, writing, and writers. What a great time.
The time went by way too fast. Sure does fly when you’re having fun. The atmosphere in the studio was relaxed and comfortable. Very guest friendly.
The Director, Petrina Sharp, is placing a mike on me. You can see the TV monitor in the background and where the curtain backdrop ends. A very casual setting.
Before the shooting, shooting the breeze with Ken while the lovely Director, Petrina, sets the space up.
What a lovely reception greeting from the studio staff, George Alger (Producer), Petrina Sharp (Director) and Ken McAlpine (author interviewer), who all made me feel very welcome. It is scheduled to air in two weeks and might be shown in cities around the U.S. if the syndicated show is picked up. Whether it is or not, today was a whole lot of fun for all involved.
Thank you, CAPS TV, for having me over to your show for this great experience. Let’s hope it helps bring many fury friends to their forever homes.
About The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap
The year 1895 was filled with memorable historical events: the Dreyfus Affair divided France; Booker T. Washington gave his Atlanta address; Richard Olney, United States Secretary of State, expanded the effects of the Monroe Doctrine in settling a boundary dispute between the United Kingdom and Venezuela; and Oscar Wilde was tried and convicted for "gross indecency" under Britian's recently passed law that made sex between males a criminal offense. When the news of Wilde's conviction went out over telegraphs worldwide, it threw a small Nevada town into chaos. This is the story of what happened when the lives of its citizens were impacted by the news of Oscar Wildes' imprisonment. It is chronicle of hatred and prejudice with all its unintended and devastating consequences, and how love and friendship bring strength and healing.
Paulette Mahurin, the author, is a Nurse Practitioner who lives in Ojai, California with her husband Terry and their two dogs--- Max and Bella. She practices women's health in a rural clinic and writes in her spare time. All profits from her book are going to animal rescue, Santa Paula Animal Shelter, the first and only no-kill shelter in Ventura County, CA, where she lives. Amazing, you do so much good. I’m proud of you and proud to know you!
What a sweet comment from you, my friend. I feel lucky that I get to be in this energy along with a lot of other really good folk that want to help our fury friends. Your kindness and support here mean the world to me. 🙂
That was a lot of fun! 🙂
Yes, it was. 🙂
Sounds wonderful! Congratulations!!
Thank you so much! It was a lot of fun, Ruth. The best part is there was a lot of hopeful energy generated that some good may come for our fury friends out there and boy does that do my heart good. 🙂
How fabulous for you. What a fun day. Keep us up to date on air dates/stations. Even here in Mexico I might get to see it.
xoxox
Yes, it was a lot of fun. What a great group of people over there wanting to help the community and make a difference. They said they’d send me a link with the info. Maybe we’ll be able to see it on the web if not directly on TV. I’ll post the link to the blog here when I get it. Ken McAlpine was such a terrific interviewer and has lots of wonderful things to chat about also. I lucked out today. 🙂 xoxo
Congrats, I can’t wait to hear the interview. 🙂
Woof-woof (more help for the furries) Auntie Paw! 😛
Me too, lol. I don’t remember any of it. Fingers & paws crossed it will bring more help for the furies. Wouldn’t that be grrrrrrrreat!. 🙂 woof woof to Tara
Absolutely grrrrrrrreat! 🙂

Christy
Thanks, Christy. It was a lot of fun. My hubby was there taking the photos so we could post some. I’m glad you like them. Happy May to you also. 🙂
Your heart shows in your compassion and effort to promote animal well being. I use to submit articles to newspapers on such subjects. We all must do what is within our grasp.
Yisraela
That’s great that you advocated for animals and wrote articles. Wonderful to be a voice for those who don’t have one for themselves. Thank you for helping! 🙂
Terrific!
Thank you. Yes, it really was terrific. Some days we just get lucky. 🙂
May I add… no doubt I’m sure, well earned luck! JJ
Thank you, JJ. 🙂
Hope we get to hear the interview. GOOD for YOU, Paulette. This is awesome. Great publicity for your book.
Thanks, Tess. I’m supposed to get a link when it’s ready. I’ll post it and perhaps we’ll be able to see it online. 🙂
So awesome, hope i can watch and hear the interview 😀
Thank you so much! I’m supposed to get a link for the show in a couple of weeks and hope it enables all of us to watch it on the web. I’ll post it when I get it. 🙂
Congratulations! I wish I could watch it.
Thanks, Clowie. I was told they’d send me a link for when it airs. I’m hoping there will be a copy for all of us to watch on the net. As soon as I get word, I’ll post it. It was a short interview, 15 minutes, and I can’t remember anything I said, lol. Neither can my hubby but he said it went well.
Ooh, I hope we can see it on the net!
Me too, lol. 🙂 Stay tuned…
Congrats, that’s pawesome!
BOL, Misaki, it was pawesome indeed. A lot of fun. Paws and fingers crossed that it helps get some of our fury friends into forever homes. wag wag.
Congratulations. You bear a striking resemblance to a friend of mine 🙂 It was strange looking at you and seeing … Tasha. Looking forward to seeing it.
Thanks! The only Tasha’s I know are dogs, lol. But hey if I remind you of or even look like a dog friend of yours that is a compliment I love. I got a good laugh out of that. I even went to your site to see if I could find a photo, Tasha, so you will see a few “likes” there from moi. Oh what fun!
I’m supposed to get a link for the show and am hoping that it has a net connection (video) to watch. If so, I will post that and we can all watch together. 🙂
This is really good!
Kuddos to you!
Thank you so much! I hope this all translates to more fury friends in their forever homes. 🙂
Paulette the TV star 😉
Well done on the interview P – every little bit of exposure will help animals in need..
xx
Thanks so much! Over here we have all our paws and digits crossed that it does help the animals. Smooches to you. 🙂

Just remember us little people when you are even more famous than you are already! 😉
Congratulations on all the lives you have touched and will touch with your big, beautiful heart! 🙂 🙂
I have no idea what a little person is, unless it has fur, lol. My head is so full of junk I doubt it will ever be inflated by any good fortune. Already been slammed down way too many times and am staying low to the ground, learned the good lesson on humility. It scares me. 😉 Seriously though, I really hope that when the freebie is over I can get some funds to the animals. So far it’s been a steady flow but all good things… Lots of love to you and your beautiful ❤ kiddo. 🙂 🙂
